v1.9 Update - Loot Check Mechanical Changes


Hey everyone, 

I recently played a game of Breathless with some friends and ended up reflecting a lot on how looting works in the original game. 

So much that I wrote this blog post highlighting some of my thoughts: https://farirpgs.substack.com/p/the-whys-of-breathless. As a result, I'm looking at updating Breathless, but also tweaking a bit both Stoneburner and TotoBS. 

So this updates includes the following changes:

  • Loot Checks: previously, when you rolled a 3 or a 4 during a loot check, you'd get a d4 item. Since those items are supposed to be fading away from the fiction at a d4, this didn't really make sense. I've updated the table as follows to be more consistent and also to make looting more interesting overall. The “trouble ahead” hints at incoming danger, while the “trouble is here” is literally “your life is now way more complicated”.

One Last Thing...

I'm currently looking at ordering proof copies of Stoneburner. Once that's done, I'll be doing the same for TotBS to bring to game to the physical world. More news regarding this soon ^^
