Firelights v1.2 Update + Creator Kit

Hey everyone, it's time for another update for Firelights!

Typos: However hard you try, there's always some who get away. This version includes fixes for some typos and inconsistencies in the game.

Fleeing from a Curse: Curses are strong. Like, some of them are even very strong. If you've looked at the math, you might have realized that Talon is actually quite an impressive beast to try to confront. That being said, compared to other Metroivania games, I wanted Firelights to take most of its inspiration from Ori and the Blind Forest and its sequel, one of my favorite video games of all time (also, that soundtrack! chef's kiss). In Ori, there are boss fights where you actually reduce the health of a boss and all. But one thing I loved about the game is how you often met the bosses many times before even encountering them (Kuro, Howl and Shriek come to mind). Either they are walking in the background, or straight up hunting you in a horrifying chasing sequence. As a solo player, I thought this would be a much more interesting way to emulate cool boss battles in TTRPGs than just rounds and rounds and rounds of combat. That's one of the reason Curses are so though to fight in Firelights. I wanted you to tackle them, and flee, and then try again later. To hint further at this particular approach, I've decided to include the following blurb/rule modification to say that if you stack cards on a Curse, those cards persists until your next confrontation! That way, you'll have an easier time fighting them the next time you encounter them. That being said, don't forget, those cards aren't in your deck anymore, so if you want them back; you'll have to finish the fight!

  • If you flee from a Curse, their stack persists until you encounter them again.

The PDF and Creator Kit have been updated to the latest version, so go fight those Curses Firelights!
