Firelights v1.4 Update



Hey everyone, 

After talking about the game on a couple of streams, and being asked a couple of questions about certain mechanics, I've decided to reword a couple of things to make the game clearer and more accessible.

Style guide: Curses and Curse's Strengths are now always use Pascal casing

Discover a Region: One of the most important part of the game is discovering regions. Upon Darkness, the game text used to say "the path is hidden, mark 1 fatigue. My goal with this was to hint at the fact that you'd have to backtrack and possibly CONFRONT RISK or BUY INFORMATION to move forward with the story. Thing is, I didn't have the layout space to write that in! After rewording a couple of the other actions, I was able to add the following, which I think adds new possibilities and new action triggers in the game.

  • When you look for a new path, Action+Approach
    • Upon Light, add the two cards to your map. 
    • Upon Shade, add either one of the cards to your map. 
    • Upon Darkness, the path is hidden. Add either one of the cards to your map, face down, and mark 1 Fatigue. To reveal a hidden path, you may BUY INFORMATION or CONFRONT RISK.

So with this, if you aren't able to move forward on the map, there is still a way to get there. You may have to backtrack on the map to do so, on confront risk to be able to move forward. I also like how this little change adds a new region on the map that's hidden, face down. Like you know that something is there, but you can't quite get there yet.

Hope you like this new addition, and I hope it makes the game clearer.

The Firelights SRD was also updated with those changes.
